Day Two  Sixth Annual Trauma Symposium

Program Description

This program is designed to be both an engaging and dynamic learning experience for participants.  It will be a two day event with the first day being a hands on skills day with focus on suturing and Advanced Trauma Life Support.  The second day will be a didactic discussion regarding the latest in trauma guidelines and patient management.

Target Audience

This educational program is tailored for physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and registered nurses working across trauma and critical care specialties. To foster a comprehensive, interprofessional approach to acute patient management, attendance is also strongly encouraged for respiratory clinicians, rehabilitation professionals—such as speech pathologists and physical therapy specialists—alongside pre-hospital EMS personnel, including BLS and ALS responders.

Learning Objectives

The course objectives for this symposium will be to deepen the participants’ understanding of the following areas of trauma care:

  1. Assess the lifesaving impact, implementation strategies, and ongoing challenges of the national "Stop the Bleed" program.
  2. Apply contemporary, evidence based approaches to the management of pediatric abdominal trauma.
  3. Evaluate current indications and surgical techniques for the management of severe chest trauma and rib fixation.
  4. Analyze the future landscape of trauma surgery by examining the complex intersection of emerging medical technologies, quality improvement metrics, and medical ethics.
  5. Implement the latest evidence based strategies in acute resuscitation and hemodynamic monitoring for hemorrhagic trauma patients.
  6. Integrate the specialized expertise of trauma nurses into the multidisciplinary care team to achieve resuscitation excellence and improve patient outcomes.
  7. Formulate comprehensive, team based management plans for highly challenging trauma patients through collaborative case reviews.
